Sadly there will be no more events at this beautiful inn that Jason and Grant put so much love into. I was recently in the area and knew it was up for sale again, there hadnt been a buyer that I knew of so I swung by to see if perhaps they were going to be open for this season. However it was with sadness I discovered the Spalding has been bought and is now being used as a private residence with no plans to open it again to the public. This is tragic as I feel this is a wonderful inn that should not sit ideally and slowly rot away once more, but be open and operational for the public to enjoy relaxing times at, and for those of us in the field to be able to investigate, experience, and share all the paranormal going ons in the inn and carriage house.
I am thankful that I was able to experience the moments I did there, to attend the 3 events I went to, and to enjoy this beautiful inn during my stay. The 2 Kings Pub will be greatly missed as will all the inn and staff. They truly elevated the stay and experience.
Perhaps one day someone who truly understands the signifigance of this inn will one day buy it from the current owners and open it once more to the public. But until than, I hope that any of us that had the fortune of staying here will share their experiences to help keep the spirit of the Spalding alive.
I know I will not forget sitting at the end of the hallway on the first floor in the dark with Kris Hawes and the others in my group watching shadows looking out at us, making there way slowly toward us. Or hearing whistling from behind closed doors. Or hearing and feeling the bang that shook the whole main building and had Jason running to investigate what it was. Or in a comical sense, finding my room door locked and held shut every time I went to open my door my first visit, and only after asking politely each time it opening up once more for me.
And lets not forget the great evp and spirit box sessions in the carriage house.
And there will never be as cool and fun a Halloween party as the one Jay, Grant and the staff threw here.
yes, the Spalding Inn will be greatly missed in my opinion and will always be one of my favorite haunts.
I only wish I had had the money to buy it myself to keep it alive and well.
